Straight bevel gears are the most frequently used type of Right Angle bevel gear.
The axial and radial thrust components from the torque acting at the teeth are low compared with spiral bevel gears and always in the same direction (out-of-mesh) irregardless of which member is the driving member or the direction of rotation. This simplifies the bearing requirements, saving space and cost.
